I have a 2 year old macbook pro with a broken superdrive, and of course apple wanted 0+ to repair it. I opted for this $[...] external, got it out, plugged it in and worked as a fully functional replacement, not to mention it was the same speed as the internal drive that came with the laptop anyways.
Looks great, runs cool (watched 2 hr movie and was cool to the touch the entire time), and is surprisingly quiet. The mac eject function also works with the drive which is fun. Also great that there are two separate wires for the USB cables since macbooks have the USB ports on either side meaning those cables with daisy chain style USB wouldn't work unless you bought a USB hub. As long as it holds up well over time it couldn't have been more perfect for my needs, great buy.
